Approved subdivision files, 1960-1987.

The Division of Community Environmental Protection is responsible for the regulation of the development of subdivision-sewage disposal systems. (Ala. Code, 22-26-2 [1975]). Prior to 1988, responsibility for the approval of subdivisions utilizing onsite sewage disposal systems lay with the Department of Public Health. In 1988, this duty was decentralized and now rests with the county health departments. This series consists of files created during the process for subdivision approval. Typical records located in this series include correspondence, maps, subdivision plats, conditions of approval, inventories and evaluations of property, applications for approval, preliminary subdivision reports, and final subdivision reports.
